Have done the research and have decided to try the kent tech m to kill of the dreaded Devils weed. I am wondering if elevating the MG level to 1800 will have any I'll affect on my turf algae scrubber. Should I take the scrubber offline for the two weeks or continue running it to help with the removal of the nutrients that may be released if the bryopsis starts to die off. Any information would be appreciated.

I believe the formula for tech m has changed and it no longer contains whatever it was that killed bryopsis (a lot of people think it was traces of lithium that killed the bryopsis) but it is no the magnesium that kills it. I tried tech m a few months ago and it did nothing at all. Try the vibrant aquarium cleaner stuff. It works great

So you have used this to kill bryopsis and it worked for you. I only have a few spots but want to take care of it before it can get out of control. Did you use the saltwater or the reef version?

They show two different types one for saltwater and one for reefs. Can I ask which one you are using? Are you using any of there otherwise products?

If you have only a few spots and you can access those rocks, you should pull them out and manually remove the bryopsis with tweezers and a rasp and then dose some hydrogen peroxide on the rock. It sounds like a lot of work but it will take you 15mins and is well worth it.

I used the reef version. Before it I tried peroxide but it was harsh on my zoas and the bryopsis would always seem to come back. Ive been using the Vibrant Aquarium stuff for a few weeks and the bryopsis that was covering the frag plugs and ticking off my corals is gone from some plugs and down to a couple strands on other plugs. I wish I had before/after pictures. Can't say it has completely eliminated the bryopsis but very close. Plus, haven't cleaned the glass in 2 weeks. I used to have to clean it every other day.

I'd say pull as much off the plugs as possible, start using vibrant and if the rocks are infested and there aren't many corals around it hit it with peroxide

It is all on frags that I purchased from a local reefer. I have taken the frags out and taken tweezers and pulled as much off as I could and then dipped them in H2O2 but it always comes back. I just noticed that It now has moved to my rock work. I tried to keep the frags in the sand bed so it wouldn't spread but it looks like I have a few places where it is now growing. I know understand why the call it the devils weed. I think this stuff could live through a nuclear blast.

Reefercorey, mrx7899 and Dochow thank you so much for the advice. I think I am going to order some of the vibrant reef version and give it a try. I am surprised there is not more talk about this product. I still have a lot to learn. Unfortunately this hobby has a lot of lessons to be learned. Reefercorey or mrx7899 have you tried any of their coral food products.

I think you're right regarding Tech M. I made a two month effort with Mg at 1800-2000 and didn't see any affect at all.
I made my first dose of Vibrant Reef two days ago.
OP, see the 90+ page thread on Vibrant. The creator is actively answering questions in that thread.

I haven't tried any of their food so not much help there. There is actually a lot of discussion on this product. There is a massive thread from underwater world (i think). Tons of people said it worked for them so I figured I'd give it a try. I dose 2.5mL twice a week in my 24 gallon

Just found the thread and it is huge. It is refreshing to see that they are forth coming in explaining how it works and answering questions.

If possible cover the bryopsis up with something. No light no bryopsis. Of course frags are more difficult to do this with but if your getting it on your rock cover it up. Also turbo snails will eat this stuff.

Most failures of H2O2 use are from lack of exposure time with bryopsis.
With frags dipping is too diluted it must be applied directly and must sit longer than 5 minutes. During the exposure time it is best to keep dripping the algae with the H2O2.
