Tank is 1 years old - my phosphate reading is at 0.03 and Nitrates are at 1.3 - someone mentioned to me that I MUST dose to bring up my Nitrates; otherwise, I'm guaranteed to get Bryopsis.

How true is this?

I don't believe that one factor triggers briopsis but if your nitrates are that low along with phosphate then something like dinos may happen not to mention your corals are starving. ULNS was a fad some years back

Untrue enough that I'd question any other advice they gave also :p

Please post a couple of pics of what you have under white lighting for assessment. Bryopsis often confused with hair algae and even derbesia

Thanks all! He corrected himself - meant to say Dinos. So based on my parameters in the original post, I should dose at least Nitrates?
