I can't get rid of the stuff!!! I've took rocks out and scrubbed them, i've done major water changes , ive cut way back on my feeding, ive cut back the light schedual. I've done everything I can think of and its just getting worse. Anyone have any ideas on how to kill this crap???

these guys suck. just started popping up again in my tank. You can use kent tech M magnesium raising it and taking frags out and using h2o2 for the affected areas. I'll be taking my rocks out tomorrow and spraying them with peroxide tomorrow. Will probably also raise my mag to try to kill it again.

I had a bryopsys in my old 180. I was beginning to get it under control with aggressive husbandry and grazing fish, Tangs and AngelF ish when i moved my 8 year old remote deep sand bed, rocks and corals into a new much bigger system. I expected a Bryopsis bloom and I got it. Here are some images of the tank and bryopsus after it was first set up.

All i did was control my nutrients and maintain my grazers. Put less nutrients in than you can take out and put some grazers in your main display. They dont like the texture of Bryopsis but they will eat it if they are taught to graze. It takes a while but the bryopsis will go away. If it really gets bad on a rock take the rock out and hit it with some hot water. After its hit with water for 30 seconds or so the fish will eat it readily. DOnt get the water on your corals . They dont respond well to that. You can also pull the byopsis off if it gets too bushy. Dont worry bout "spreading spores". After 6 years i still have some growing in one place in my sump but my fish scarf up any that ever makes it to the main display. Takes abou ttwo days to clean a rock now if i put it in th emain display. Like i said , the fish dont like it but they will eat it. Here is a picture of the tank today. You can beat this stuff with good husbandry and grazing fish.

Dont know why i cant t get the images to show. Wouldnt think it would be so dificult to link an image...Sometimes it just wont work for me.

How long afteri use the H2O2 would it be safe to put the rocks back in the tank? I may try to use the h2o2 and then hot water afterward to double treat them would this work?

Peroxide will work fine by itself. You can try spot treating the rocks you take out with some peroxide and it should be good to go back in after a raise with tank water. Just try not to get the stuff on any corals like sps/lps.

Its not the magnesium that kills the bryopsis, its one of the ingredients in Tech M that does it. I've read that you need to dose enough to raise the mag about 200ppm in the first dose. This is supposed to shock the bryopsis or something along those lines. This is just coming from what I've read, I have not had this problem luckily.

Good luck
