I'm pretty sure this is bryopsis. I'm looking for a vet so i can get flucanozole as that seems like a sure-fire way to nuke it. It has the signature fern-like branches, and I don't know of any other algae that does have that attribute at this size.

perfect, thanks! (well, not perfect, it sucks. but at least i can fix it, its only 4 little patches. I cant get the rock out to peroxide dip though)
Hydrogen peroxide doesn't generally kill bryopsis from my experience. It's also another way to confirm between hair algae and bryopsis. Bryopsis will not turn white with h202.

Exactly, from my experience H2O2 dipping did not touch my bryopsis.

Flucanozale did eliminate it (almost) about 6 months later I had a few patches grow back. I had a big infestation and think it didn't get all the way through the rock. I might recommend either adding a supplemental dose a couple days later (like a 25%) dose or letting it run 12-13 days.

my plan was 2 weeks (14 days). My tank, even without skimmer rarely goes over 5ppm nitrates, so i imagine 2 weeks without water change will be perfectly fine. I purchased 10 200mg pills, i plan on dosing 6 of them to start, then maybe at day 7 do 3 more depending on progress.

Thanks :)

From being one of the top 4 people researching and experimenting with this medication on the bryopsis Cure thread, we have found founded it is best to dose the full dosage all at once and not break it up. So it's one 200 mg capsule per 10 gallons of water volume. Also a tip for you, good lighting for some reason helps to speed up the killing process as well as a really good clean up crew. If you have any of it in the shadows down low you could point an outside light source towards it and it will help kill it as quickly as bryopsis in direct light.

6x 200mg tabs is 1 pill per 10g (55g tank + sump).

I have 2x AI hydra 26hd, all the bryopsis seems to be in direct light. I read i should turn off my UV on the lights, is that right? or just for uv sterilizers?

Yes turn off the uv. Are you deducting for rock and substrate? If so then you have the dosage correct :) also don't run carbon or purigen. Gfo won't hurt and no skimmer for at least a week.

Uv sterilizer should be off... in the lights is ok
Do you know how flucanazole would react with red slime remover? I added red slime remover to my tank last week to deal with some cyano. I jist recieved my flucanozole and was wondering if I could dose it now or if I should wait for my skimmer to take out all the red slime remover? Ill be doing a water change tomorrow and would like to do as the flucanozole.

I don't think anybody has tried to combine red slime remover along with the fluconazole and I don't actually think it's a good idea. If it was last week I would do a water change and then see how your skimmer takes it out. If it continues to bubble and bubble I would wait until it stops and the skimmer goes back to normal behavior. That would be a good indication that it's out of the system. Then you can dose the fluconazole.

Like @prsnlty said, I would wait until red slime remover is out of your system before dosing Fluco. Since you already have bryopsis, waiting few days won't have that big of an effect other then making the tank look little uglier. Fluco is very effective. However, for me, it took 3 weeks to completely remove bryopsis. You have to let it run it's course. Don't plan on doing any water changes during this time. I wouldn't even try manual removal. Once the algae turns white it will eventually disappear. If you can, I'd say run some filter floss in your sump to catch the dead algae. My filter floss had to be replaced every other day since the dead algae was clogging up the floss. Best of luck.

I havent look at my tank today yet, the RSR may already be out of my system ( I started skimming wet 2 days ago). If thats the case ill be starting fluco tomorrow after my water change. Going to do a bit bigger water chsnge since the tank will run without chemipure for a while

If the skimmer is not over flowing that's a good indication that red slime remover is out of your system. Doing a big water change before the fluco dosing is actually a good idea. Just be patient it'll go away.
