I have an early bryopsis infestation but depend on chaeto for nutrient export.

I understand both Vibrant and fluconazole can kill chaeto.

What do you folks suggest?

Not sure how helpful Chaeto would be in getting rid of Bryopsis. But I did one time treatment of fluconazole and it eradicated Bryopsis in my tank with no livestock casualty. My tank is fully stocked with corals(lps, zoas, and sps) and of course fish.

Without question, fluconazole. Worked great forme....a miracle drug!

I would personally get ahead of the bryopsis by using fluconazole. If the chaeto begins to die, take it out and get more after the fluconazole has done its thing. Better than letting the bryopsis get out of control where it starts to damage/kill your corals. I've heard mixed things on whether it kills chaeto or not. Maybe depends on dose/length of treatment?

If you use de fluco 15 days de chaeto would not be harmed.... i have used twice with perfect results!!

I’ll going with the fluconazole. I’ll put some chaeto in my quarantine to save it.

What are the current dosing recommendations with fluconazole? That thread is 200+ pages:0

20mg/gal to kill algae

Raise your magnesium to 1500 hold for week or two depending on severity and lower back to 1350 ppm

I dosed Fluc about a month ago and it had absolutely no effect on my chaeto. In fact my chaeto grew faster due to not having to compete for nutrients.

I tried the elevated magnesium too and it didn't really kill it but more just slowed it.

I’ve ordered the fluconazole. I’ll save some chaeto in the quarantine tank...just in case.

Just remember to use as prescribed.
Per my bottles instructions: "Turn off skimmer for first 3 days. Activated carbon and phosphate remover can be used after 3 days, but remove other chemical filtration. Empty 1 capsule for every 10 gallons of tank water(20mg per gallon) into high flow area in sump. After 14 days perform a minimum 30% water change. Do not overdose. Filter socks are recommended during use in order to help clean the aquarium during treatment."
