**** it! (sorry Rev). That shot is from my overflow...I can't see any in the main display, but the display is whereI first noticed it a few months ago. I thought I had it beat with elevated Mag levels over the last 2 months. It had vanished and I started stepping down my Mag levels a week or so ago. Guess I'll crank it up again....."sigh"

doesn't work with just any mag.. only works with Kent Tech-M, and works VERY WELL..

I have been elevating my 2 part mag dosing as well as using Tech M. I've recently seen a few posts that Tech M changed their recipe slightly and it now doesn't work as well on Bryopsis. Not sure if this is BS or not. It certainly isn't cheap to keep high Mg levels with Tech M on my system (150 gallons gross). :ah:

Supposedly Tech M contains some added ingredients and/or a certain ratio of Mag Chlor and Mag Sulfate that makes it more effective on Bryopsis.

Tech-M is what did it for me over a year ago. I tried two others and it had no effect on it. I would use a syringe and squirt it directly on a patch and literally that portion would turn pale immediately. I didn't just toss it in the tank. I figured if I was going to put it in anyways I might as well go directly at some of the thicker patches.

Tech M also worked for me a couple months ago. I used the stuff with the new label. I also used a turkey baster and squirted it right on the bryopsis and it did wilt right away.

Good to know about the "target" attack on it. I will give that a whirl. I yanked out all that I could out of my overflow (which is the only place I'm seeing it for now). Maybe I'll shut down the main pump and dump some in the overflows and let it sit for awhile.

When you rip it out by hand you should have a bowl of freshwater on hand to rinse your hand off between grabs, so your not introducing small broken pieces everywhere in your system. I also used the Tech-M and it worked as well about 4-5 months ago.

pinch, pull, rinse...repeat (a billion times) :snicker: It does work though. Plus when you start pulling on it with your fingers you can tell it is starting to dies off because it comes off way easier. When I first pulled on a small patch I lifted a large rock off the bottom of the tank by just the bryopsis. That stuff really is strong.

bovsbaitboxes , I hit a couple patches of zoas and they closed up but did not die off. They were fine later. I generally tried not to hit coral directly if I could avoid it but it was impossible with the zoas since the stuff was growing in between it and already killing a few polyps by choking them out.

I had my mag in the 1700s for 2 months and it vanished. Started dropping mag about 10 days ago and just looked in my overflow and saw the pic at the top of this thread. I would have gone higher than 1700s, but it seemed to plateau in that range no matter how much Tech M I put in.

I used top crown snails to rid my tank of it. Good luck, it really was a @$#%@! to get rid of.
