Bryopsis on the glass?

I don't think so. Is it anywhere else in the tank? On frags? Do you have a brighter pic?

I did receive a frag from world wide corals a week ago.And it does have a branch of bryopsis poking out from underneath it. It is in my tank sitting on a frag rack away from everything.

Well that does look like bryopsis now in that new pic. Just kinda strange it's growing on the glass as 1st spots. If you can get it out, I would. On the frag, what type of coral is it? Depending on the coral type, you can try to switch it to a new plug if possible, or dip in a peroxide/saltwater mix. I usually just mix a little less than 50/50 mix. Maybe 40% peroxide to 60% saltwater. I usually try to not just throw the whole frag in, but instead dip where the bryopsis is and hold it there for around 5 mins. Then repeat every few days to a week as needed. You need to be a little careful though as corals don't really like peroxide.

I have had success with fluconazole in treating bryopsis, but wouldn't go that route for a few spots of bryopsis. Instead try removal and peroxide dip 1st. Just what I would personally try, maybe others will chime in!

Yeah I had an out break before with my 55 gallon and was able to ride it with fluconazole. Its a pavona frag.

Thanks for the reply and advice man. Caught me off guard that it was growing on the glass like that. Let the battle begin!

Any updates?
I don't want to hijack your thread, I just noticed the algae you pictured is the same as what I have living in my tank and am curious if your tactics of removal are working.
I had the exact same algae start growing on my glass also. New tank (80g)was an upgrade from smaller one, using 1/2 dry and 1/2 live rock from my previous sysytem. Fish were added 2 weeks prior to noticing algae and nothing new was added. I had no algae like this in my 2 holding tanks that were running for about a year. I am confused, because people are saying this algae is Bryopsis, yet in my tank, my Tomini Tang, Scopas Tang, Algae Blenny and Cherub Angel were all mowing this stuff down and I thought nothing touches Bryopsis. But, a week later, the first 3 fish died within 12 hours of each other after showing no signs of illness. The Cherub died a week later. After researching this for days, I attributed the fish deaths to toxic dinos, as I noticed all 4 of these fish were feeding in the areas of the dinos that popped up. The only fish remaining are 2 wrasses. I increased nitrates and phosphates after researching the dinos so other algaes could out compete the dinos, added a UV filter and it appears to be working on the dinos. This algae like you show in your photos now is growing only on the upper tops of my tonga branch structure in high flow, and the "feathers" are 1-2" long. I am curious if this really is Bryopsis or not.

The outbreak got really bad for me fast. So my assumption moved to definitely bryopsis. I doesed fluconazole did the two week thing. It’s all gone now haven’t seen it since. I think it came from the dry rock I cycled. It was just really weird growing on the glass in single spores like that.
