Hi All,

I put a new BTA into my tank the other day and was hoping with just a few corals in the tank it would find a nice location that wasn't on top of any other corals. Well I was wrong! After moving around a bit the nem moved to a location close to my Euphyllia and they are kinda touching a bit at the moment. I am not really happy with the location of the nem as I was going to plug the gap in my rock with some new LR that is cooking but now I am not sure how to get it move. Any suggestions on how to nudge it to move over? This is my first nem so I am not sure how to get the foot to release from the rock without hurting it.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Aim a powerhead at it, the strong flow will make it move away. Just remember though nems will walk all over your tank until they find the spot they want to be in. If you move things around it will probably move again as well.

He looks like he's in there pretty good. I'd move the frogspawn, or whatever it is, instead. You can try the powerhead trick, but he will probably just shrink into the rocks.

Yup, he is in there really good. His foot is under the rock work and coming up through the gap in the rocks, which is partly the problem. I will plan to move the torch but I still have to figure a way to get the nem to move out of that gap so I can put the rock I have for that space in there.

I think I will move the torch and try the power head trick to see if I can get him to move just a bit. Is there a way to gently pull him off the rock or will that damage the foot?

If you can get your fingernail under the foot and gently work him off then it can be done. But be careful.

I would just rearrange the rockscape since your planning to add new rock. Move the rock that it is mounted to. The BTA will move again especially any time you adjust your power heads slightly.

Once it’s settled then move the torch or other corals if your not happy with its final location.
