BTA Anenome completely deflated

My bta anenome completely deflated, it’s been about an hour
Could this be due to my other bta spawning?

tank is 1 and a half years, he’s been in a month so far and been fully healthy and growing.
light is a Aqueon Optibright+
Filter is a marineland cainster
Ph 8.4
Nitrate 0
Nitarte 0
Ammonia 0
Salinity is 1.02

I don't think that light is strong enough? I have never used it before anyone else wanna help out? To me it looks kinda like its dying but need other opinions first.

It may recover.

Keep an eye on it.

If it does revert it could be dying and then you need to remove it.
If it's dying I read that you will smell a bad smell.

Seems to be reinflating tank is now cloud from the spawning of the other bta

when you say salinity is 1.02 do you mean 1.025? also nems like a little bit of a dirty tank you may want to feed the tank a bit more to raise your nitrates a little so there at least detectable.

1.025 area, just tested again to make sure . And most of that is on the outside, gave it a good cleaning 2 days ago

I would guess that your anemones are starving for light. Anemone's light requirements are at least equal to most coral, and the water needs to be just as pristine as well. Nowhere on their website do I see any mention of actual output from the light so I have to believe that they are low powered, and therefore suitable for freshwater or perhaps a marine fish only system.

The one appears to be disintegrating. I'd remove it before it trashes the tank.

He may inflate and deflate a few times.

IMO when a nem deflates with tenticles extended like that it's always a bad sign.

If they pull all tenticles in that's different.

IMO this part looks really bad.

He may have a bacterial infection.

He originally did pull in all his tentacles but slowly reinflated , what would be good for him if he does have an infection

You says he's re-inflating which I get. But they may inflate and deflate several times when sick to try to expel stuff.


These tentacles look far from healthy to me. I think he has some kind of infection.

I'll let a Nem "doc" say for sure before you do anything but cipro treatments seem to be the go to.

I hope you don't have anything else in that DT if you added Cipro...

Normally Quarantine into a separate tank and add cipro.

IMO he's probably a goner.

Better to get him out now into a bucket with a heater and a power head so if he dies he doesn't nuke your whole tank. Dose Cipro separately into the 5G bucket and turn the lights out.

Try to read the whole article on treating with cipro....

That nem is close to death. You've been told, your choice what you do from here on out. You've also been told your lights aren't strong enough, again your choice. (Your tank is not ready for a nemmie. Get better equipment)

Their own website clearly states that it it ok for a fresh or saltwater FISH ONLY tank or one with plants that require low to medium lighting requirements. Anemones require very high lighting to have a chance of surviving.

That nem is close to death. You've been told, your choice what you do from here on out. You've also been told your lights aren't strong enough, again your choice. (Your tank is not ready for a nemmie. Get better equipment)

We really are trying to help. It sounds like you've gotten some less than stellar advice (from your LFS perhaps?) and you are going to fast regardless. Anemones are best suited to a very well established and well lit system. To get to that point takes at least 6 months to a year.

Nothing good happens fast in this hobby.
