I just got this Bubble Tip anemone from Live Aquaria. I got three. One died in transit. One is doing incredible, nice and fluffy hosting my clowns, eating a little bit of Silver side. The third is questionable. I don’t know if it’s okay. It is not fluffy, it doesn’t want to eat. The clowns like it. Do you think there’s something wrong with it? I’ve never had nems or BTAs before. My water perimeters are 0 ammonia/nitrites, 20 ppm nitrate but I just cleaned out my filter they were a mess so I am hoping that will help. I have canisters and a protein skimmer. My salinity is 1.023. Let me know if you have any suggestions. I have a few different species of clown fish that love the BTAs, a lemon tang, and a foxface. Thank you in advance.

My suggestion is to stop feeding and let the nems settle in. Feeding when stressed can cause more issues than good. Btas are tough, but need time today rattle in and adjust.

I agree. Just leave them alone and let them do what they're doing. They are very sensitive. They will be fine without food.

Yes. Anemones are one of those things that when you put them in you have to leave them alone. Let them do their thing. They will move around a lot, look weird at times. They're just getting used to your tank probably. I have probably 10 in my tank right now. Sometimes you think something is wrong but they may be splitting from stress too. I started with one, went to 12, sold like five of them, and I'm back to over 10 again.

Also, make sure you're not giving them too much food or they will spit it out. Maybe even just use tweezers and give it some mysis in a week or two.

Hi Steve, my other nem was fine an hour ago and now looks like this. Is it dying? Should I take it out before it melts? I have no idea what it’s doing.

Hi Micheal, I was wondering if you could help me out again. An hour ago this nem was doing good and now it looks like this. Brown/white wispy stuff was coming out and it won’t close it’s mouth. Is it dying? Pooping? Should I remove the nem before it melts?

I would give it a bit. Even mine deflate like that and go back to normal within five minutes. Sometimes they're huge and puffy and then turn into a deflated balloon for an hour, then back to normal.
