Bta hosting clowns

If your carpet is hadonni, that's not a natural match either.

My doni picasso's took to BTA's fairly quick, but that does not happen often, and they flat out refused hadonni for a long time, never touched it.

I recently saw someone breeding either percs or occs, and when very young they were given BTA to get them used to them, apparently when young they are quicker to seek that shelter was their explanation, so maybe in time we will see some tank bred that are quicker to take BTAs

There’s always exceptions :) wild caught will always host. Definitely try to find at least one clown that’s already hosting!

I really don't think wild caught or tank bred makes much difference, it's still pretty random on accepting a non natural host nem as to how quickly they accept it, where a natural host nem is usually accepted right away.
I don't think their hosting instinct is bred out of them at all.

Isn’t the natural host for a maroon a bubble tip ?

The old hosting debate , always a goodie. I have two nano systems one a Mixed nem aio the other nem heavy but more a mixed reef . One tank had a mixed pair of clowns the other a matching pair .
The mixed pair are all over the nems ( maybe because they have no where else to go ), the other tank the clowns are not interested at all in anemones . It is strange how some do and some don’t however it is so cool to see clowns peeking out of a the flowing anemones.
As for mixing anemones my anemone tank has rose, green bubble tips a Ritteri and a rather large mini maxi all in close proximity to each other in fact during the day when all catching some rays they are interlocking and swaying together.
As it’s a nano AIO I am religious with maintenance , running carbon and doing weekly 1/3 water changes. All has been good for the last couple of years .
