I have this BTA and it’s just so pretty I’m positive it has a special name. Any guesses? It’s got a lot of nice tealish green in the base, the bubbles cover it. I’ll try to get some better pics tonight.

Rose bubble tips have purple bases, this might be a rainbow, but those usually have some orange in them as well. Was it sold to you as something unique?

It was sold to me as ‘assorted anemone’ and was very bleached when I got it, now it’s back to full health (I think) so I’m just trying to get an ID on it so I know what I have when it splits

Honestly, I’d (personally) have trouble giving it any sort of name like that if it wasn’t sold to you as that. It’s hard to say with online pics. Calling it a speckled rose isn’t stepping on anyone’s toes or giving the wrong impression.

I personally have a bunch of roses that I’m like 90% sure are “black widows” but I always sell them as a rose BTA as I wasn’t sold them as that. Maybe I’m too nem ethical (nemthical? lol). None the less, beautiful nem, I’m sure someone would likely pay more than standard for it.

Yeah, it split recently so I was just wondering if someone was able to ID it 100%. Just wondering, what do you think is a fair price for a natural split of it that’s about 3” across fully open? Like what would y’all pay for it?

Are you selling local or online? Hard to say what your local market has.

Where I’m at, usually smaller standard BTAs go for $30ish and up. Larger ones, maybe $60. Once you start getting into named/unique, price can go crazy. Personally, I’d price yours somewhere in the $60-75 range. If you sell it in an hour, your price was too low LOL

To call an anemone by "name" will require some proof of lineage. Otherwise it's just a BTA. Well, not "just" a BTA, but it can't be called something because it looks like it. For example, there are a lot of wild anemones that look like CSBs, but they can't be called CSBs.

Regarding price, it will depend on 1) what you think it's worth and 2) what someone else thinks it's worth. In my area, local reefers charge anywhere from $0 (they give them away) to $100 for RBTAs, while some LFS will ask $175.

I think you mean foot. Roses have a greenish base. Rainbows would have some yellow and pink tips

My RBTA has a green/blue/rainbow coloured base, not so much orange.
Mine lost its bubbles, but the tenticals are long and it's doing amazing, see my build thread

"named" bubbletips in many cases are just fairly typical color morphs combined with specific lighting and photo editing that end up driving the price up because that one may have more speckles than others, or look pinker, or orange'er, etc. Because like in Zoa's... named things are worth at least 4-7 times more than normal things.

However, there are exceptions like Black Widow, Colorado Sunburst, etc, but in most cases you have Rose, Rainbow, and Green.

So just to recap everybody, I should sell the split as a speckled/acid wash RBTA for around $70? It’s a 3-4” natural split and very bubbly. These are the pics I could get, the one in the cup was the first split (it went into thirds) which I put in one of my other tanks. The other pics are reflections from the back glass because it’s really far back in the rock work and I don’t wanna tear apart the tank to get it, it’s working it’s way to the front though. Completely unedited photos, just the icecap photo lens

In reference to my earlier post... "acid washed" is a name thats been tagged onto normal bubble tips with a few more speckles than others. They vary... anemones are weird but awesome...

I'd consider yours a Rose Bubbletip.

And RBT or RBTA confusingly often means Rose to some people and Rainbow to others. I've just gotten into the habit of sucking it up and actually spelling a few extra letters and wasting a couple seconds of my day doing so.
