Hello everyone,
I’m wondering why my rose bubble tip anemone has one piece significantly larger than the others? It has looked like this for a couple of weeks. Also, my Green BTA looks a little strange. Not long strands, but crinkly. Wondering if this is normal, or am I doing something wrong?

Parameters are :
Salinity 1.26
No3 2
Phos. 0.025
Calcium 360- (trying to raise that)
Magnesium 1275
Alk. 9.8

My tank is 18 months old.

They look a little stressed from what I'm seeing in the pic. What lights are you running? Is it a high flow tank?

I would say the flow is medium? The sand isn’t blowing but there is a wave movement from the pump. I have the dual pro orbit led lights set at 12000k. They run from a ramp up at 8am to sunset at 5.

Not seeing anything that jumps out at me. Have you added or done anything different to the tank in the last couple of weeks?

I think the lighting could be a bit low for them, but that one tentacle is crazy, I've never seen that before. Any ideas #reefsquad ?

I have been adding B-Ionic Alkalinity and Calcium, but not very consistently. Alk has fluctuated between 7.1-9.8.

You really dont want your alk to fluctuate nearly that much, I try to keep mine +-.3 ish. That could be adding a ton of stress, and around this time is when my tank switches from winter mode and summer mode and pH goes up. All of that combined could add too much stress to your nems and could be doing that

Sorry for the ignorant question, but- How do you keep it from fluctuating ? Would I need to test daily? So far, I’m doing that once a week.

First off, I would get a regular dosing schedule, whether it's once a week, twice, or every day (like me) and test every time you dose. If your alk goe up, decrease your dosing a bit, if it starts going down increasing your dosing a bit.

Thank you. I’ll try every day until there seems to be a solid pattern.

Thats what I do, I dose every day, but I only have to test every week because I have mine figured out pretty well. Over a longer period of time, you will have to increase how much you are dosing because of more corals sucking more alk out of the water
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice!
