BTA needs a new home

Hello, I have a Colorado BTA in my 240 Gallon reef tank. I've had it for a year without it moving now it wants to wonder everywhere stinging everything. Want to put it in a 30 gallon tank by with some clowns, tank isn't set up yet but my question is, can I fill tank up with my DT water and wait a couple weeks and drop it in?

Without a cycled tank, I can’t see him doing well.
he would be sensitive to ammonia, ph and nitrate flux.
You could keep him in a acclimatization box inside your DT, there, you can limit his movement for now.
Otherwise, rehome if you can.

Nope, 4 years stayed put now, moved once at the beginning.
While traveling, he touched very little and seemed to prefer to move around stuff.
They usually start travel when light or flow changes.

Maybe a “box in a box” to contain him, a basket clipped to the rim, he’ll stay in there.

new fluctuating tank is death on an anemone. Id follow @Uncle99 suggestion at this time and keep him in the stable tank in a acclimation box

Should I set up tank let it cycle and then put bta in there? Watch parameters until they stabilize?

If you want to maintain him, and another tank, you’ll need some rock or marine pure, bottle of bacteria, and if you could pull any small piece from the tank as a seed, you can make the change quickly say 24 hours after seed.
Your DT is a year old so the seed would be a good one.
If there’s nothing else pooping in your new system, the nem will not add too, too much but don’t feed him, just light.

As long as you transfer rock with it, should be fine. The rocks are what makes a mature environment, not the water
