Hello!

This buddy hitchhiked with the live rock i bought for my new tank.

I thought that it was bubble-tip anemone, but could it actually be majano?

Thanks

.

Not sure if serious..

0% chance that is a majano. Looks like a run of the Mill quadricolor BTA. From where was the rock sourced with this hitchhiker?
No clue honestly, but im glad to hear. Started my tank a week ago. Bought 20 kilos of "indonesian live rock" off local guy who does reef maintenance. I suspect that the rock was freshly pulled off enstablished tank, because im not seeing any ammonia or nitrite, but nitrate is 10mg/l and algae is starting to grow everywhere. Alot of hitchhikers too.

Yeah the Rock is definitely live and been cycled a minute. Good amount of Coraline already established on there. Cool hitch hiker!

Nems walk and are suicidal. If it stays in your tank, be sure to anenome proof all of your pumps in the tank.

Shredded nem does bad things to tank.

Thanks for your tips! will make sure he wont get into pumps / powerheads.

Got some pests too though. Saw my first tiny aptaisia today and little bit of Bryopsis. Already ordered some fluconazole and aiptasia-x.

Im not sure if im crazy or not, but i think i saw small "bobbit" worm too. It was flat and long, copper/red colored, with tiny legs on sides. He went back hiding inside the rock when i turned my phones camera/torch on. I have alot of bristle worms but this one is very different and super fast moving compared to them. creepy.. o_O I can't think of anything else.

I would definitely do some more looking for the bobbit. You do not want to end up with this…..

this is a bristle worm...no harm unless they get over populated and watch out because the bristles hurt when you touch them....like touching a cactus

Yep, it came out of my tank. Was just over 3 foot long and was living in one rock. Obviously was completely curled up most of the time and would then stick its head and some of body out only when the lights when out. A freaky experience when you first see it with room in complete darkness and using a small red light torch….

I dont think bristle worms have "antennas" like mine does. I have alot of bristle worms and they dont look anything like this one. Im pretty sure its eunice valens.

I read your thread about it. My skin is starting to itch...

Im pretty sure mine is eunice valens. Im going to set up cameras tomorrow and try catching him on video.

What a nice beginning to this hobby ;Nailbiting

little bit of Bryopsis.
don't dump chemicals in your tank for that just smother it ASAP.

Should i just remove bryopsis manually?

Ok, i will do some research on how to trap it. I don't feel confortable removing the rock yet.

Cover it with something if it's only small patch. Super glue or kalk paste will do if you have any. Pulling it alone won't work because it roots itself in the rock.

Finally got some pictures of him. I saw multiple roaming around the rocks. Im not sure wether its actually "bobbit".

Appears big on pictures but its quite small, maybe 0.5-0.7mm wide and 8-10cm in lenght when fully streched out. 4 distinct curved antennas and small head with tiny black eyes. Its somewhat transparent too.

If you watch closely, there is short stubby one running away at end of the video.

True bobbits are rare in the hobby but that does look like a potentially harmful worm as they might get really big and opportunistic. I would remove.
