BTA QT

I’m getting a BTA later today from a local reefer. It’s footed to a rock and he’s just gonna give me the whole rock. I don’t want the rock so I’m gonna get the BTA off the rock.
In order to QT this properly if I drop it in the qt tank rock and all does the 16 day QT start the day I get it off the rock and when I get it off the rock do I have to transfer the BTA in a clean sterile tank or can I keep it in the same tank and start the 16 day count down. I’m pretty sure I gotta transfer into a sterile tank with all new sterile equipment but I’m just making sure.

I take you are just doing observation?

Most people don’t QT nems.

I personally don't qt nems, unless you have an established qt set up I would worry about it surviving in there

I’m just trying to make sure there are no free swimming ich/velvet in the BTA but since it’s on a rock there could be the cyst stage on the rock

The rock could have some pest on it so I would just take the nem off of the rock (but I think you were gonna do that anyways)

Well I was able to get it off the rock pretty easily but I think I might of messed it’s foot or somthing cause it’s having a hard time sticking to the glass on my qt tank. It looks good otherwise. It has all its color and the mouth looks fine. Anything I can dose to the tank to help it heal up.?
