must be doing something right- came home to see my bta has split! It was a surprise to me since I've been struggling to keep mag and alk up- my hammer and plate died due to it. I fed it yesterday too, last I saw it was balled up last night.

and I've only had it for a month...

Anything I should be doing to ensure the split stays healthy? Not sure how taxing it is for them.

congratulations, I had one split a couple of months ago also. Perfect for my two clowns now:)

Your anemone split due to the stress of changing parameters. Nice looking nem though.

+1 to Zach. When BTAs and some other nems split it's not necessarily an indication that everything is okay. More likely it's an indication of stress that the nem is feeling caused by things like poor water quality, lighting, or flow rates. The splitting is a defense mechanism. The nem is splitting so that hopefully one of the halves will survive the trauma.
Nems can also reproduce by splitting, but in most tanks, especially if you are having water quality issues, the split is being csused by stress.
Whatever is actually causing the problem needs to be addressed ASAP or the 2 new nems may not survive.
