So I came home and saw this. I’ve been feeding it, and it’s been going well for the past several months.Does this mean the anemone splitting?

Also, as an aside, the anemone’s tentacles are very short. (They were even shorter when I purchased it). I’ve seen ones that have tentacles like 10 times the length (to say nothing of the width!).

Is there anyway to feed them that will allow their tentacles to grow longer?

It looks like it is splitting.Tentacle length is mostly a response to the strength of the light it is getting.Do not overfeed the anemone .Once or twice a month is more then adequate. They digest food very slowly.

Could be splitting but it looks small to be doing that. Mine gets huge before she splits. Just wait and see.

There's a lot of debate about causes of "bubbles" vs long tentacles. Mine is in relatively high flow and light (not SPS high, though). But they'll move to wherever they want, not where YOU want. Enjoy her as she is.

Update: the nem did not split for a few weeks. I then took its rock out to clean off lots of GHA, and dunked the bottom of the rock (not the side with the nem of course) in a 10% vinegar solution, and then added some live rock from KP aquatics.

In the next few days it went walking. I let it walk, and it settled under my Gyre 150 (with the mesh cover!) for a few days. Then it disappeared; I saw a shriveled piece firmly attached to the gyre's meshguard.

Then even that was gone. :( [no ammonia or nitrate spike. Nothing odd with the parameters]

I don't know what happened, but I'm upset by it of course. I may get another one, but I'm going to hold off a few months. :(
