BTA Wont Extend

I've ran nopox and also biopellets and kept anemones without problems, why would a carbon source be detrimental to an anemone? I can see if you stripped nutrients to fast. @davocean would these high nitrates have an impact on the health of the anemone?

Nopox is suspected to have a severely negative impact on corals and, in my experience, anemones. Especially if dosed in higher quantities.

I found that lowering my salinity to 1.023 had my BTA's looking their best. I would think that if lighting or flow was the issue, it would probably move. I started with one, and now have seven. Mine like medium flow and lighting it seems. Good luck with the little guy.

I purchased my BTA about a month ago. After a week he wouldn't extend his tentacles and just looks like the picture below. Hoping you guys can help me figure this out.

Tank Parameters:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 40 ppm (this is new this week, Nitrate has been hovering at 10 for 3 weeks, not sure what this spike is today. So even at 10 ppm the nem would not extend)
Phosphate: .5 ppm
Calcium: 480 ppm
Magnesium: 1500 ppm
Salinity: 1.025
PH: 8.0
Temp: 77 F

Nem.jpg
Is the nem at the bottom of the tank? Where was it is proximity to the lighting at the store. I stopped feeding my nems and moved them high up at top of tank with good flow and they are growing and thriving looked like yours before I moved it. But if it is attached to the rock moving it could hurt its foot and I wouldn’t chance that either. I don’t feed the nems at all anymore. I heard when they are stressed eating takes too much energy but I’m no expert, just my experience. We have AI lights. Here are before and after pictures of mine. Was low in tank and I moved high and stopped feeding. 6 months later here are the nems.

Man that looks more like a rock nem then a bta in the pic hope it comes back keep us updated

Agree. Tentacles out, wall thick. Feed a few mysis. If he takes it that’s great.
I run nitrates around 20 to 40. Phosphates around 0.2 to 0.4. Salinity at 35 ppt
