Bubba's SPS Journey

Since there are so many sps experts here. Can I ask how to get crazy polyp extension? I am getting normal but not crazy ployp extension.

I have used all the tips, stable parameter , no filter sock, strong random flow, feeding oyster feast and reef roid

I consider mine to be normal polyp extension also and I pretty much do the same as you besides the food.

I have seen some pics where people have extreme polyp extension but I don't know what they do differently.

Yea. The reason I asked is because whenever I got new acro. Their polyp extension is crazy but after a while in my tank, they remain like 60-70%.

I’m wondering if I’m missing the carbon source. Product like Chroma color plus or kz coral vitualizer would help?

I really like the JKR Rainbow and I feel it's an underrated coral. The one in my frag tank gets nice red polyps but the one in my display is really nice also.

That's a super bright and crisp picture of the colony! Well done!

Bubba, how well would you say you know the scientific names of your acros?

Do you care? Or is trade names enough? :)

How do you decide on placement? Is it based on above - or do you experiment? :p

Gorgeous!! Love the strange growth it's got going on in the top left though! I really do love the way corals just do whatever they feel like! haha

Nice new camera! I now need to learn how to use it.
You better upload like 45 pics a day for us just to make sure you're improving lots and we can provide feedback haha

I personally don’t care about scientific names what so ever. I care about trade names and lineage.

I generally try and put tenuis and Millis in the most par. The ones with multiple colors I put those in the highest par to try and bring those colors out.

I also experiment and see how corals react.

Thanks!

That strange growth are free branches provided by vermitid snails, lol. I should glue them shut but it’s too much work.
