I used to have it in my 80 gallon (well still do) but you won't find it on rocks . Mine only grows on power heads and the overflow because I have 7 emerald crabs that keep it check . If an emerald crab catches your fish it was dead ..lol I do have sps and besides climbing in my birdsnest and stylos I don't really witness them doing any harm to the actual coral . They do however like to bust through cracks and knock stuff that isn't glued or encrusted down yet . Easy trade off for not having to look at it on rockwork . Getting them off in clumps and siphoning also works great

I'm sorry to hear that. What was spike?
The mandarin?
Yeah. I even had that lovely mandarin eating New Life Spectrum small fish pellets, and he did great on them even in the absence of pods. Of all my losses, I think he hurt the most. It's the fish in my avatar.

I'm having this same issue with the bubble algae... I really don't want to dose into my tank (40 gallon). I hear a foxface will clear it out the issue I'm having with the bubble algae. I've added crabs (2) and they seem have done nothing! But my concern the foxface will get to big for the tank.. Is there any smaller fish algae eaters?

What caused the spike? Ammonia? If so how.

LOL!

The females have smaller claws. Maybe they're safer than the males?

I can't risk Spike. He's too dear to me. He sleeps on the sand so he'd be easy prey if a crab tried.

I do have a couple of bluelegged hermit crabs. Think they'll get around to eating it?

I purposely bought 3 female emeralds. They did great in my 150 but all of the sudden the bubble algae is coming back. Stick with females

Yes I only have a 75g my saifin just mysteriously died overnight about a week ago and I now see bubble algae bryopsis and slime. The best nano algae eaters I had in my 29g was a tailspot blenny by far but also had a pair of rainford gobies that were good too. Not like the tailspot all he did all day was pick at rocks. Get 1 and your problem will be solved. Another thing I had him in with the pair of rainford gobies and a pair of ywg's with no problems. Good luck

Yes, I did manage to get it off. Took the affected items out of the tank before carefully removing the bubbles by hand and giving it a quick rinse to wash away any reproductive material.

Sadly, I had a tank crash not long after this post, killing all my fish (including my beloved Spike.)
dang that would destroy me anyway glad this post is old an would love to hear about what you've got going on now
