Bubble algae invading my tank.. =( Very discouraging..

We should plan before peroxide for sure so its safe

the ideal way is no dilution, placed only on valonia that way full contact is only for bad guys lol

Idk why there's so many extremes for the removal lol I had a horrible outbreak and as I said I dosed lanthanum chloride to keep phosphates at zero for like a month... And boom gone

A foxface will eat bubble algae like sweets but they are to be added with caution to a reef some can be model citizens and others can turn rogue no different to a copperband or file fish some are good some bad.

Crabs pop the algae when they eating it so how does it not spread ?

I cant add a foxface... my tank is only a 36... I'm already at a heavy load for fish...

I have a lot of corals that are attached to the rocks... I just dont feel safe pouring pure h2o2 to the rock... Most of the info I've read, ppl dilute the peroxide.

It'll read zero no matter what, I dosed 5 ml into 5 gallon top off. Truly took out the phosphates and I noticed big color changes in my coral. Try it out before you move Into the meow aggressive routes. (UV would be good to do with it too)

which one did you buy? as far as brand?

You can buy the ones they use for pools, as long as it's only LC. If you're super cautious like me just buy liquid phosphate remover like Phosphat-e by bright wells or look on melvesreef.

Super simple and it works way better than my GFO ever did

I'm with you on that. A friends 400 gallon was completely covered.... the most bubble algae I have every seen. Every rock was completely covered. We did like someone else suggested... just used a siphon and scraped and scraped and scraped. We did not worry about popping them and it didn't get worse. Repeated 3 or 4 times over the course of a couple of months. Got the nutrients in order, and finally added a rabbit fish.

After trying all methods, just before takedown,
holler for a guided peroxide run we save many tanks at that point with multiple threads running five years, a thousand tank examples, we don't harm coral :)

diluted peroxide won't help. Try all other methods first, we are used to getting last go with a quick boost on this problem. With one full tank shot we can make an accurate prediction. If you've seen the threads, they're huge w pics

I have heard emerald crabs eat bubble algae but to me it was a miss, not a hit. They also tend to learn to switch their diet to pellets really fast. If you can find someone with a proven one or ones then you have a good chance. They are looking not as bad as the green hairy algae.

I have a lot of them in my sump. They are on the display too but not as bad. They grow fast so I have to take them out from time to time. Good nutrient export mechanism imo
