I'm having trouble with bubble algae in my 70 gal reef tank. I added 4 emerald crabs but they are not taking care of the problem. My parameters look great. Any other suggestions?

I use a 1/4" OD tubing and siphon them out. As many as possible. Your crabs will keep up the rest.

Just manually remove as many as you can before each water change. Don't worry about popping them. The trick is though you need to stay ahead of them. If you start slacking off and time goes by you could really have a problem on your hands. GL.

a bubble algae problem is almost always caused by excess nutrients. Either nitrates or phosphates. so when you say your parameters are great what do you mean? I agree with the others, stay up with them get them out popping them is fine syphoning is ideal. even through a filter sock and into your sump is fine. just don't let them take hold. I've never had much luck with emerald crabs either. The key to most reefing solutions is husbandry. Daily maintenance is priceless

Ever since I added 3 emerald crabs I rarely see any bubble algae any more

Thank you all for your advice. I was able to get the bubble algae under control. I got my phosphate level down (it was a little high), did some manual removal, and gave my emerald crabs a pep talk. Now I can find little to no bubble algae in the tank.

Totally disagree with this statement. Especially with Bubble Algae. It can and will grow under any conditions. Even ULNS.

That's why I said almost always. Anything can grow. Because there are always nutrients. But with regular maitenence you should not run into an over abundance unless you have excess nutrients. Just to clarify.

And phosphates were high. So there you go. Proof is in the pudding. Lol glad you got it under control. :-D
