Well, I think it might work for other things too, but in my case I have a problem with Valonia in my 30 gallon tank.
I am thinking to use a diaphragm pump to pull out the valonia, filter the water and return to the tank. Filter system would be a pre-filter with a 100 um filter sock, and a three stage filter after the pump (20 um, 5 um and 1 um). The pump would be a 4 gallon / minute shurflo that handles well head pressure.

Is this going to work?

I've heard that emerald crabs will keep that cleaned up for you...

It would be a good try as long as the spores are bigger then 1um
I believe they are. But that is a good point and I will take a look at them in the microscope and make sure...

I added 5 small ones in the 30 gallon about 1 month/ago tank but they did not do anything to the bubble algae yet.

I was thinking that I would want to have something like that when I had dinoflagellates problem a few months ago. It also could work with aiptasia and mojano (although I do not have these).... So it could be a nice tool to keep around.

I had this problem in my 90 got one emerald it was a hog! But as u stat d didn't do any good work to the ba. Ended up feeding less adding carbon reactor using rawa media and they are declining. I'd be scared that the spores would pop and from what I have read that when they spread quick. But the kid in us or me anyways want to pop like bubble wrap.

I found a .5 um sediment filter. I will try this with the 100 um pre filter, and 20 um, 5 um and .5 um sediment filters. I will probably have the pieces in the next 2 or 3 weeks and I will keep posting the results. I wonder how long I will be able to work with this without clogging the system... Well, I will find out.
