My tip is to just pull them out when you see them, using care not to pop any bubbles.

Some will say emerald crabs will eat them, but it's more like 'control' them because as the crab pops bubbles during eating, it releases spores. No longer have emerald crabs.

Anything drastic you might try will impact your desired macroalgae.

Going forward, better QT process as take solace its just bubble algae - something worse instead could have gotten in there.

When I'm cleaning them off, I try to do it out of the water. Bubble algae do tend mostly to peel off without popping, IF I should pop one while removing, having it out of water lessens possibility spores get into tank because then I will pour 12% hydrogen peroxide on the spot hoping to kill spores (does it... I don't know - might not but over time in that area where they keep reappearing does have less and less frequent too)

Try taking the macro out put it in strainer pour tank water over it too remove bubble algae, discard water put algae back into sump if it's on rocks remove rocks let set out of tank in sun or inside since its winter in sink or something this should help combat the problem , remember nusicse algae like bryopsis, bubble and turf thrive in whites and nutrient rich water, as stated above emeralds are nice to keep in sump but As far as keeping them with coral may not be advised as all crabs are opportunists and ambush predators a meal is s meal ....

I'd say get a couple(2 to 6) peppermint shrimp and maybe a pair of springeri damsel and cut back on reefroids(or powdered coral food) on the same hand algae in the sump is what u want not algae in the tank, that's what a refugium is a place for algae to grow and not be in your tank, and even though its unsightly to our eyes it's perfectly healthy to have algae in the refugium of a system, for the most part that why we have them to keep unwanted algae out of the display and in the sump below away from our eyes

But the main thing is Maitenence and upkeep and making sure it doesnt spread from refugium

If it spreads to tank get tweezer scrape siphon 20 to 35% every other day at with sg 1.025 use filter sock and bucket discard water and wash filter sock and dry

Also try throwing a couple bags of chemipure blue in refugium make sure to rinse until runoff is clear before use

Yeah, i only have macros in the sump, I like how my sump looks. Im just afraid of bubbles getting in the main tank. Do you think that culling them every 2 weeks is a good idea? There are only a few very small ones left (I hope) that i can maybe wait out until they grow so that I can remove them, or do they multiply even if they are small? Also thanks for all the advice

I remember reading an article somewhere (here maybe) that disproved the spreading of spores if you pop them. No clue if it's true or not.
