Bubble algae "popped"...emerald crab doing it's job?

As the title says...some of my bubble algae looks like it was popped. Do emerald crabs eat the entire thing or just the inside basically?

They eat the flesh and underlying roots, most of the time they pop them trying to eat them.
 
You really don't want the bubble to pop because it spreads the algae. We rarely find any but when we do we carefully remove it without popping them.
