I remember seeing not long ago someone post a recipe that you spray on bubble algae that kills it. Not sure who it was, but I have not been able to find it!!

I've been battling bubble algae for a bit now and it will help greatly!

Thanks

It was an underwater spray, maybe you posted it up on RC?

I just pop them and add emerald crabs and I have always wiped them out. People say don't pop them, but an emerald crab has to pop it to eat it right? :)

Unless the crab is really big! :D

FWIW, I think my foxface eats them. I have some in my refugia but not my main tank.

You think he chews with his mouth closed?? HAHAHA!

mixture of 5-10% NaOH solution
dissolve 10gram of NaOH (Caustic Soda) into 100ml of Osmosis Water.

shut down all streamers
use a 1ml injection needle to dose it into the algae, let it work for 10 minutes .
than turn on the streamer again.
work clean and precise, don't waste it on corals, because they will be affected by it.

This is what I was talking about

OK, so an injection. I can see that or other materials (such as a calcium hydroxide slurry) that people use for aiptasia working fine.

Be warned that it will boost pH and alkalinity, so don't use too much at once. :)

Yes here's a picture from the post

We put a siphon hose right on and probe it and suck out its fluid and suck off the the sailor bubbles......

Seems to work good for us..

That would work for me if they weren't in the worst spots possible. I'm resorting to the method above simply did the fact it's all I have left besides taken them out of the tank which is a definite no pol

Foxface fish work very well but they will also feast on your zoas! :)

I only have a few zoos, but I've not noticed my one spot foxface eat them. :)

Really? Hmmm...what type do you have? My local buddy had one that devoured them! I guess it's like any fish, you never know.

It is a One Spot Foxface (Siganus unimaculatus), and I do bring it a big bunch of macroalgae from my refugia about once a week for it. It also eats the meaty foods I feed all the fish (like shrimp). It's actually the biggest pig in the tank..

If he didn't eat these things, he might well go after things that I didn't want him to eat. :)

Just wanted to give an update. I did the guidelines I posted above and it worked like a charm.
