Hello everyone,

I recently found my first bubble algae in my new build. I removed it and scrapped the area clean out of the tank.

Today I added an emerald crab for future control. As I was placing it in the tank I saw the piece of live rock I had used to seed the tank with a nice garden of bubbles.

I have removed the rock and am planning to scrub it down.

I would like to save the coraline algae if possible. Will hydrogen peroxide kill coraline algae? Is there another was to kill the bubble? Or just nuke the rock and call it good.

And because every thread needs a picture

If you pop them make sure to have good mechanical filtration in place to catch some of the spores. I’ve had mixed results with peroxide and bubble algae in tank. Works better if you can submerge in a solution of peroxide. In that case it’s likely to kill off everything on the rock including coralline.

How big is your tank? Some fish like fox face will eat bubble algae.

I had bubble algae and emerald crabs completely devoured it. Haven't had a repeat in over three years. skip the harsh chemicals.

It's a red sea 170, about 35 ishikawa gallon display.

I'm lucky it's only on the one rock (that I can see at least) so no need to nuke my tank at this point

Thank you for the replies
