Bubble algae scrubber

It's crazy how fast bubble algae grows in my external overflow. I bet I remove about a cup full every month or two. Think it works at all like a scrubber? The display tank is bubble algae free with exception of a couple bubbles.

 
Well yeah! That gives me an idea! Maybe I should take the cover off of one of my overflows, and rig a growing screen in there. Good deal!
 
The only problem with bubble algae is that it spreads like wildfire when it gets popped. I don't know that I would want to grow it on purpose, but you're welcome to give it a shot I suppose!!

Oh no, I didn't put it there. If I had my choice my system would be completely free of it. I did notice that when it grows like crazy in the overflow it doesn't really grow all over the display though. It would be cool to know exactly what kind of effect it has on the water chemistry.
