Bubble Algae

Here is another picture of the same spot in my tank I took about a week ago. You be the judge! What do you think...working on algae or not?

I know this may sound weird but I witnessed pods eating the bubble algae in my tank when I over dosed it with them.

Very good to know! Might have to try but want to test vibrant first...THANK YOU!

Following along, I’m in the process of dosing Vibrant for bubble algae as well.

Keep an eye on your Nitrates though, mine hit 0 and I now dose potassium nitrate.

I have been...been feeding a bit heavier also to help keep them up some.

Doing another dose tonight. Still doing twice a week dosing. I will take some pics after I do it. I must say it is working on much of the algae issues I had. Still waiting to see what is going to happen to bubble algae.

I read mixed reviews about vibrant and bubble algae. Ive read about some success while others dosed for months and nothing. Bubble algae is hell. Ive had them go crazy on my tank, got a few emerald crabs that eat/pop them and although they momentarily dissapear, the spores swim to other rocks and return with a vengeance, 3x worse.

I build a new tank six or seven months ago with dry rock and tried my best to keep an eye on frags coming in. Got a super nice zoa colony and skipped a single bubble algae hidden in it somewhere. I saw a few bubbles in a single spot a while back and glued epoxy putty and superglue over them being careful not to pop the bubbles. Im sure ill find them again...

Vibrant is a bacteria blend and carbon. It technically is the only option we have at this point

Two weeks of treatment down...has been effective on most of algae....entering week 3. Have been dosing twice a week right now. Will take some pics soon. Still no change in bubble algae

Any issues with any of your coral at this point? I am also dealing with this devil algea, and my tank is only 6 months old. Snuck in on one of my frags, I thought I did a good job dipping/cleaning/inspecting; however, I must have missed it somewhere...

No issues with my coral. Still opening nicely. Everyone is happy. Adding another dose today!

Devil algae for sure. I’ve been dosing for three weeks but need to go to twice per week. Not much ch change.

I am dosing twice a week right now. Really no bad issues yet. I have been feeding extra as my nitrates and phos are not detectable with my Red Sea test kits. Been using mostly reef chili broadcast feeding for corals and pellets and frozen for fish. Might have to start dosing soon but not quite yet.

So I have been dosing twice a week for 3 weeks and I am going to report cautious optimism. As others have reported, some of the bubble algae is starting to turn translucent/clear. I am very cautious to report this because it is just starting but this is the same report as others have had at about the same time. Corals still seem ok but I am feeding more as my phosphates and nitrates are zero/undetectable with my Red Sea pro kits....and my chaeto in my refugium is still healthy looking and there is plenty of it. I run a kessil h380 on it for about 8 hours each night opposite my tank lights. And yes I did another dose of vibrant tonight. I dose every Tuesday and Friday in the evening before I go to bed.

Not a fix but you can suck off with a turkey baster prior to a small water change or use a slightly smaller siphon hose and do a 5 gal water change sucking it off.

Just my 2 cents

So have continued with Vibrant. All other algae is under control but bubble algae is still hanging in there. Corals are all still good but I have increased feeding of fish and corals.
