Bubble Algae

I started dosing to get rid of bubble algea as well. I do have some hair algea too; however, after my dose on Monday (4th week) I really can't see any difference. I am just dosing the 1ml per 10 gallons once a week. Are you guys dosing more or more frequently to get these results? Any negative reactions from coral if you are dosing more?

i used vibrant. did wonders on all the algae until i had a cyano outbreak from it, and it started causing my acan to recede. I've since stopped vibrant. unfortunately, the bubble algae is back, but my acan is doing better too.

that being said, i've let my nutrients rise a little (was 0.00 nitrates and phosphates) so the corals have a little something, and have started w/ reef roids as well. i may go back to maintenance dosing of vibrant...

So I have been dosing for 6 weeks now. Had some cyano show up. Bubble algae is still there. It did clear some up but I have backed down from twice a week dosing. Not sure how much longer I will keep it up but for other algae it worked wonders.

I did not see any negative reactions to my dosing more in relation to corals!

How's your bubble algae doing? I had a bubble algae outbreak out of control, my corals were still happy but it was covering pretty much every inch of rock in my tank. I dosed my tank, once a (edit: week) at 1ml/10gal for 4 months until my bubble algae was finally taken care of. My filter socks were filled with bubble algae once they started dying off. See the photos below for what my filter sock looked like and how much of my bubble algae got wiped out, don’t mind all the growth from that acro :D

Now 2 months later, I found a little patch of about 4 bubbles forming. I will remove them during my next water change and hope that there isn't more that I dont see, which there probably is... I did lose an acro during the duration of dosing but in my opinion it was worth it since my bubble algae was taken care of. Hopefully I can control the bubble algae this time around before it takes over again. Good luck to you and keep us updated!!

So a little update...bubble algae is way more under control...not eradicated but way more under control...I bumped the dosing down to once a week after 6 weeks as I could not keep up my nutrient levels. I have moved on to my next challenge...aptasia!

Dosed the first time last night for bubble algae. Will probably do twice weekly.

I had problems with Vibrant and will never use it again. What works for some may not work for others. I am going after some spots of BA tomorrow. I have found that it is best to carefully pick off what you can with the pumps and circulation off then scoop the up with a strainer. Sometimes using a turkey baster can help but it depends on where they are located. Like most algae issues about all you can do is try to keep them in check. A lot of the time they are under rocks and you can't even see them. For the most part emerald crabs just puncture the bubble and the stuff gets spread around anyway.

Haha, get her something really nice if she manages to get rid of bubble algae by cleaning tank!

What kind of problems?

So I had a huge problem with Velonia and I doubled the dose per gallon for the dose period and it has been very effective. Most of the bubble algae is gone now and I am still dosing in an effort to finish it off. been dosing for about two months. Don't have any SPS or fish so not sure how that will affect your situation.
