Some of my life rock came complete with bubble algae. I have very little now and I am removing it as I see it. I dont mind having some, but want to keep it under control and would prefer to not have to pick at it constantly.

Seems like the a foxface is the best at control, but I think they are big for my tank. I have also read that emerald crabs are hit or miss. So if you were me what would your plan be? I think I may have to manually control it, but looking to the collective experience here to see.

What size is your tank?

Foxface can get big, emerald crabs can eat them but some say the spores will travel once they pop the bubble.

If you can remove the rock and pick them and rinse the rock then do that. If it was me I would take the rock out and toss it..

I hate bubble algae. You can also try to control it by using a solution called Vibrint for reef tank.

Sorry meant to include. Tank is 75 gallon.
I am too new to have a hate for bubble algae yet. I definitely dont want to toss the rock as it's a nice small arch and cost me 40 bucks.

I understand. I got out of the hobby once due to over growth of bubble algae. It’s hard to controls once it takes hold. I have a foxface in my 120g tank and he should prob be in a bigger tank imo.

$40 to toss a rock is worth it. Maybe trade it back? Just make sure the spores did not take hold in your other rock or pumps. Sometimes this can grow on pumps even lol. It’s the devil not to worry you I wish someone told me this in the beginning.

I check all my frag plugs / corals for bubble agalae before putting in tank
