I have been trying to remove this algae from tank for months, with no luck. I keep getting told to adda small emearld crab. While I know they can do the job. I'm worried that this thing might eat my Captive Breed Mandrin that's been in tank for a year and a half. She is one of my favorite fish to watch. My questions to everyone whats their thoughts of this happening? Am I being over cautious?

Thanks

From what I have read they can take a liking to fish and might eat your mandrin. The main issue with emeralds is the big males are the ones that will eat a lot of bubble algae. They will also eat a lot of other stuff like coral.

You will never get rid of it relying on crabs. I am sorry, those little buggers get a taste for mysis and never look back. You have an underlying nutrient problem that is feeding the bubble algae. If you get your nutrients down the bubble algae will stop thriving. Then you can manually remove it. I had a HUGE problem when I upgraded my tank. I was tearing apart rockwork to remove bubble algae, my pumps were covered in it. It was awful! I can go into detail if you would like.

Two very effective means to battle this issue,
A) Rabbitfish ( either orange spotted or one spot)
B) Vibrant liquid

I tried the emerald ctabs who I say are Lazy. I then tried Vibrant and having approx. 90 sm-med bubbles everywhere, I watched then turn clear and float away within three weeks. That tank is now bubble free.
