I've recently started my attack on my bubble algae outbreak. The glass in my overflow was covered with them. I removed the strainer on my pipe and used my flipper(blade side) to slowly remove them from the glass. I then swapped out my filter socks. I have included a pic of the majority removed from the socks.

My question/thought, everyone's opinion is that these cant be broken open in the tank. Everyone's opinion on best way to eradicate them is with emerald crabs. Do people really think emerald crabs are eating them whole and not breaking them?

I battled them for a good while, removed as many by hand as possible then got some emerald crabs and have not seen any since. I assume they eat the seed before it matures into a bubble..

If its true that the inside contains spores, wonder if UV would kill them?
