Hey All. I recently upgraded my tank, and added 10kg of new rock, along with 10kg of rock that I had in the previous system. The new rock has been a bit of a nightmare, and has had constant GHA problems. Last night I noticed the beginnings of Bubble Algae on every one of the new rocks (there are 4 in total). At this point the bubbles are still fairly small, and the rockwork is not glued together. Today is water change day, so I was going to do the following:

1. 20ish Litres of water out of tankj and into 2x Buckets (one 5 and 1 15)
2. Mix up Peroxide in 5l Bucket
3. Give each rock a bath for approximately 5mins in the peroxide, and rinse off in the other bucket of old tank water.
4. Rocks back into tank.

My concerns are that this will negatively affect my tank inhabitants, while doing nothing at all to the algae! Currently I have:

2x Clown
1x Redfin Wrasse
2x Cardinal
1x Royal Gramma
1x Pistol/Goby Pair
1x Tuxedo Urchin
2x Cleaner Shrimp

No Corals on the rocks being bathed.

Thanks for any input.

Forgot to post levels -

Nitrate is around 2-3
Phos showing as 0, but that is due to the GHA sucking everything up
35ppm
25 Degrees
~7.3 Alk

Might cure it for a day but your algae problems will come right back again unless you address the source of the problem also you would be killing off a portion of your biome opening the door for even more issues.

I agree with this. Sort of ties into the "give a man a fish" saying. Scrub a rock from algae, the algae will be gone for a day. Scrub the problem out of the tank, algae is gone for good XD

No corals on those rocks, but other guys that might not like the treatment. Not enoough bubbles to worry about. Hit the root cause.
