Bubble algae

Of all places … this infestation started on my wave maker .

what causes this algae ?

I believe they release spoors. It could have came in on anything rock or coral related. I would pull that pump and scrub it and then peroxide it. If you manually remove it while in the tan try not to pop the bubbles.
