Bubble algae

I understand this topic has been posted multiple times in the past and I have read all of them.. but I want to get some more updated information or share any new experience based on emerald crabs…. My tank is now 5 months old, pass ugly/Dino face… so maturing phase I guess… I started seeing bubble algae’s here and there.. starting to spread more and more.. I have been manually removing them. I am trying to be more proactive here… I am trying to avoid adding chemicals, I think that’s the best route and keeping my tank more stable that way… majority of hobbyist suggesting adding emerald crabs, however, there’s been report about them eating corals… I have mixed tank so I have all kinds corals and any thoughts? Please share your experiences or solutions.. thanks

My emerald ate my bubble algae very effectively. When there was no more bubble algae, it started eating my leather coral, so it was banished to the invert tank.

I used algae fix marine. After three weeks it started to flake off. I then scraped as much as I could and siphoned it out. It's hearsay, but the female emeralds are thought to be the safer bet. If you have a good LFS, you can ask them to sell you some females. Their under side is shaped different.

I have three emeralds. I've seen them eating it but they do take time.

Just general turkey blast and scrub won't hurt, you can do it in sections to not mess up your parameters,I would not advise to add more and more cuc especially emerald crabs... In a 5 month young aquarium

Just keep on top of it like you say you have 'manual maintenance', best way forward is to do this before water change/filter clean.

Get emerald crabs but get the female and try to manually remove it as well. I won't recommend fox face, a lot of them when they get older they'll go for your corals

I used pitho crabs in the past. Usually 3 or 4 would slowly eradicate the issue. Just like the emeralds when algea is sparse they will sometimes pick at zoas and other various softies. I have a tank dedicated to raising and feeding various cleaners that I move around from tank to tank as needed.
