Good afternoon guys,

Bought this bubble coral at a LFS for $10 dollars. I know it's in bad shape but do you guys think it will get better, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. The coral's skeleton is about 4" across. Its just been one night in my tank and its already looking better than how it was at the store. When I dipped it I removed a bristle worm about 2" long and very fat that was wrapped in the skeleton. Do you guys think that was what was killing it. I apologize for the low quality of the picture.

Yup, your probably ok. Make sure it gets flow(is that a box its in?) And take a look at it after the lights go out. Should look like a monster with eating tentacles out.

Yea it's a plastic container. I drilled some holes so it could get some flow. So if the eating tentacles come out at night, is that a good sign?

yes a very good sign. Why is is in the container?

The hermit crabs were messing with it. I was told that even though the crabs are eating the dead tissue they can also remove new growing tissue. So i was told to keep it inside a container with a net on top.

yea I suppose that's not bad advice. check on the flow though. Crabs love new smells too. and therse lots of new algaes on there too Id imagine.

Do bubble corals deflate its bubbles like the anemones do? My bubble coral was doing great since I got it but out of nowhere it deflated its bubbles.

My bubble deflated in the evenings but not completely. It does look like a monster with tentacles at night! Sometimes it totally deflates. Just like nems. Had my bubble over a year now and that's what they do.

Oh ok thank you. I couldn't find anything online if they deflate or not so I thought that it might of been dying.

I thought my bubble coral was dying today but spot fed it earlier with brine shrimp and it seems to be back in the land of the living. I’m not sure I understand what’s going on here unless he’s particularly greedy and I was starving him.
