hey guys has anyone fragged a bubble coral? I have one that i would like to frag cuz its huge, its taking all of the center of my tank cuz it kills everything i put close to it. I have read that you could do it by putting a rubber band around it and then cut it with a dremel another way is to cut the skeleton from the bottom and wedge it slowly until it splits.Whats the best way? Thanks!

Yep... you can cut it with a bandsaw, hacksaw, dremel or whatever from the bottom up... split enough of the base skeleton(the harder of the skeleton that is not harboring polyps) almost up to where the polyp is at... wall to wall... and then get a good hold of the coral by placing your index finger and thumb around the sides of the coral... take a scale, chisel or something flat and stick it in the fresh cut slot.. bend to pry and crack the skeleton but do not separate the polyp... use a rubberband around the base skeleton, or place in the sand and separate the coral very slowly over a long period of time. ***** risky...

So decide to do it. I took a rubberband and wrapped it around the bubble and let it sit for two weeks, then i cut the bottom of the skeleton and cracked it apart. All looks good both are opening up and eating well. Ill post pics later

I'd be interested in seeing pix and knowing how it does long term. I have one I've thought about fragging, but not sure if I want to risk it yet.

Thats how i felt but said f-it see what happens to this day they are both doing good eating ant shooting out their tentacles. does anyone have tips on to post pics here?
