Hi I am in the market for a new skimmer need help to decide I have two options
1.- 16 month used Bubble king Supermarin 250 Internal with Red Dragon Pump 1500
2.- Nyos 220 New

I like the Nyos it looks promesin and is a space saver but Bubble king marin has a very good review

thanks

The BK SM 250 is a proven performer . is the skimmer still under warranty ? If the pump fails it's going to be costly . 6 bills ouch .I would say if the skimmer is over 2 to 3 years old ..leave it be.

The NYOS is unproven and Eden pumps on skimmer's don't fare so well. The NYOS design is all cool n pretty but are you the type to keep the sump immaculate ?

So in all it's really a toss up . I would choose the NYOS . It's new and if you have any issues they can be remedied under warranty .

If you are not in a hurry the new JNS COQ5 skimmer's should be released soon . The Sicce/shark pump is proven and this skimmer has a smaller footprint since they placed the pump inside the unit .

Bk.. My friend. I love mine.

Hey Lilbuddha,
I tried googling the new JNS COQ5 skimmer and it comes up with nothing. Where did you see that information that it was coming out?

Save your money! Here is a very good option with proven track record AM EM 500. The Sicce pumps have proven themselves to be reliable. If you by chance to need parts MD has them. On top of that it is a great value for your money. I currently have the EM 300. BTW I previously had a BK SM 200 and an ATB 1050.

This solves the problem with the crazy footprints . Maybe less dwell /contact time but the Co1 users don't seem to be complaining .

If the prices be relatively the same, ya gotta go with the BK, it kicks the crap outta the other skimmers numbers.

Can't remember if the BK SM 250 is using old askoll block or the new speedy pumps .I have read On RC (BK skimmer club )a lot of down time due to lack of pump replacement parts . Some taking 8 months to get a new pump .Maybe they are on track now but the last post I read was in Oct 2014 .

I have have my BK for about 8 years now, The propeller went down one time. took 10 days to get a new one shipped over from aquarium specialty and cost 150. I love mine and even with my new system on the way its going to be extremely hard for me to leave BK.
