I recently got a Bubble King Supermarin 200 internal protein skimmer. So far I am really frustrated with this $1500 skimmer.... It skims great for a while and then it overflows. I have it in 8" of water. I will get it dialed in and throwing good dark skimmate for hours and then it will start to over bubble and overflow my collection cup. It seems like it will skim good durning the day and then at night it will act up.

Any ideas? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks
Cory

Please tell us how much experience you have with skimmers and we can avoid asking needless questions?

Remember that everybody, I believe, has had skimmer probs.

Not a lot of experience... I have always just put them in at the recommended depth, plugged in, adjusted the bubbles and stood back and watched!! lol

The manual on this said that the break in period can be from a couple hours do a week.... After a week I think it might have finally broken in. It started throwing good skimmate yesterday and did so throught the night. Like a baby that sleeps through the night for the first time. LOL I am so proud.

I am at work right now and haven't been able to watch it today but things are looking better. I just had NO IDEA it would take so long to break in.

Long time since I have updated... The skimmer has worked wonderful since my last post. THEN I cleaned it! lol Full bath tub, vinegar, algae and coraline everywhere. :P Well I am back at the break in stage. My own fault. I completely spaced that it would kill all the good bacteria in the skimmer and I would have to "break it in" all over again.

One other thing. Where the air line goes out of the skimmer to the pump. You know, the part you can adjust for bubble level. It is leaking water where the silicone tube exits. I don't know if I should seal this leak or if it is normal. I have left it alone for now but keeping an eye on it.
