I've had my skimmer up and running in my 125 gallon display tank with a 40 gallon sump for a year now nothing has changed. Still have the same two fish that I've had for 4 months now and cuc for almost a year as well. NOTHING has been added or changed in the last 4 months.

About a week ago my protein skimmer was overflowing I disassembled everything wiped everything off put it back in still overflowing constantly and now my tank looks like this in a matter of 24 hours.....

It is extremely cloudy I have even went as far as moving the skimmer to a lower water level of my sump and it's still overflowing. I have made sure my air tubing is cleaned out. The Collection cup gets overflowed with bubbles I was using the setting the setting 2 and I'm back down to maximum which is the so-called lowest setting for it not to overflow but it's still overflowing.

Any suggestions on what to do??

Check to make sure the water inlet port isn’t plugged with something. Mine has been doing that intermittently for the last couple weeks, turns out occasionally it would suck a filter sock into the inlet and foam over badly.

Update: I ended up doing a deep clean on the skimmer and let it run for 3 hours in a vinegar solution seems to have solved the problem and my tank is back to being crystal clear
