I am really hoping someone can point me in the right direction on this, the pump on my curve 7 stopped working. I took the pump out and started to take it apart. I realized that the needle wheel does not spin and I cannot figure out how to take it out to make sure it is working properly. What do I need to do to get this pump working again?

Is the shaft intact?

Everything is in there, is the shaft supposed to be able to spin? I cannot get it to move at all and im not sure how to remove it to see if anything is caught down in there keeping it from spinning.

Shaft should be stationary. Impeller spins on it.

You won't be able to spin it by hand in the pump.

Post a pic.

Ok, what kind of things could I try to get the pump working?  It looks clean of any kind of debris or anything like that?

You should be able to pull the impeller straight out. Or at least pull the shaft if the impeller froze. The rust stains might be a swelled impeller magnet.

Other words if I'm not able to pull the impeller out the pump is ruined And I need to buy a new one?

I have to clean mine every three months or so. Pull the impeller out, it's only held in there by a magnet. Rinse it in fresh water or a short vinegar bath, a few hours would be better. You can test your pump by plugging it in and then sticking the impeller in there to see if it spins for a second. I'm pretty sure that your pump still works it's just calcified a little. It will do that when you shut it off for a day, too.

If the impeller won't come out. Try pulling the shaft only. It's under the red retainer cap.
Careful. They are usually ceramic.

I would try soaking it in vinegar for at least a few hours. Try plugging it in, while in the vinegar to see if it will break loose.

Then (I would be tempted) to take a small screwdriver and go from the top and try and get behind the pinwheel and see if you could pry it out. ***WARNING*** the shaft is ceramic and (if you live in Milwaukee) cannot be found locally and I had to order mine from china. Mine was for a Atman PH pump in my bubble magus skimmer.

Well I soaked overnight in a 1/1 white distilled vinegar solution. It did not help get anything loose. I popped the red cap off and grabbed the center bar with a plyers and was able to pull it out with a little fighting. The needle wheel itself though would not come out and I accidently snapped it pulling on it. Do I have to replace this pump with the identical pump (Bubble Magus SP2000 Rock Pump) or are there other options out there that I can get? I only see the pump for sale a few places and it is $75.

I think if you can get the impeller out and the pump body isn't trashed, you might be able to get away with a new impeller.
