Bubble Magus Curve 7 Skimmer Pump - Pulling 71 watts?!?

I'm shocked that so many of these ratings are so wrong! Many people base their purchase decision on things like wattage numbers. There should be some control around them being correct.

I bet this is true for all of them too, because any needle wheel air mixing pump I've tested so far seems to draw more than it's rated for.

Yeah, I started this thread (long ago) and was really disappointed. I definitely made my decision largely based on the (reported) wattage of the pump.

I think it really depends on the skimmer manufacturer and what pump they use. I recall my little SCA-301 skimmer that used an Atman PH1100 pump advertising a current draw of 17 watts yet drawing well over 30, while my Deltec SCA 1351 with its German Aquabee DCS400 pump advertised a 9 watt draw. My Apex is reading 10.

My sicce sk-200 in my bubble magus curve 5 elite is pulling 85w, should only be pulling 16. Just found out via hydros.

So weird, I was just looking at my fusion app and thinking to myself, that skimmer is using a lot of watts, then this pops up on here. (I find it so weird when things like this happen) I have the curve 5 elite and it pulls 60W. To the op what did bubble magus say when you reached out to them and explained it?

Snapped this today. Magus 7 with the original pump on it..............the watt usage seems in order to me.
