Bubble Magus curve 7 vs Coral Box D700

Im having a hard time decidedong on the Bubble Magus Curve 7 or the Coral Box D700

Has anyone used or seen both in person? Which is quieter? The look pretty similar in design and build quality.. My goal is efficient and ideally silent. I think either one will fit the bill but which is better?

Can anyone with experience with them please chime in and help me decide.

The D700 is closer to the Curve 9 in size and performance, right at 9" cone diameter at the bottom. I prefer the D700's DC pump with 8 power levels for really dialing in the skimmer. I also prefer the gate valve for fine tuning over the 45* cut PVC the curve 7 has.

I used 2 D700s for over a year. Loved them.

How quiet/silent are the D700's?

I would go with the magnus curve 7,I had the d700 got micro bubbles and never could dial that dang thing in right plus The water level is 9-10.5 inches which most sumps are in water level

i have a d700 and i think that itis a little hard to dial ,right now mine is in the suggested water level label that come in the skimmer and i have the gate fully open and the speed in the fourth led,SB reef light ,can you explain your setting of your skimmers?

Love my Curve 7 but have not had a d700 to judge but the Curve 7 does wonder on my 90 gal tank with Emerald 34 sump with 30 gals it. I would recommend the Curve 7 any day of the week for price and performance.

I run the D700 on power level 3. It's a DC3000 pump, way too big for the skimmer.

I adjust the gate valve so the bubble level just touches the red o-ring when the collection cup is off. If it stays put for 2 minutes, I put the cup back on it and call it a day. Micro bubbles should disappear after a couple day break in. If you still have them, slow the pump down.

I also run my skimmer in about 7" of water.

When tuned right it's a bigger skimmer than the curve 7. More flow through and more dwell time. It will pull more skimate.

It sounds like they are both awesome skimmers! Curve 7 is about $40 cheaper.... However i wish they would list decibel/sound ratings to compare

So its sounding like you guy are all loving it and the D700 is the way to go...

What water level do you guys keep it at? One of you do 7" .. dose that work well for all or is 9" better? I'm working on designing my future sump

I have de d700 and i have it in 8" and i can only use it in the 4 speed of 8 and full open gate so i think that it is no processing to much water per hour so today i modify my stand and put it in a 6 3/4 " and for my surprise i have to put it in 7 speed.

Best water level is 18 to 23cm ;7-9 inches
I had this skimmer and did not like it I could never get thick skim always wet skim plus it produced microbubbles

I currently have a reef octo INT that thing is rock solid have it for backup always
I sold it was well built skimmer just could never get the skimmate where I wanted it and microbubbles
I am looking at another skimmer to right now

I am looking at Bubble Magnus NAC7 because my water level in sump is 10in and I would not need a skimmer stand also looking at a recirculating skimmer to so U can plumb biopellet reactor to it still undecided,my tank is fairly new so I do not have a bioload
I want to be able to just run my skimmer only 12hrs a days for nutrient export is why I am looking at NAC7
I like the vertex skimmer also but they are pricey
