bubble magus curve 7 water height

so, i am in the process of upgrading to a 75G from a 40B. i have a 20G long alongside a fiji cube DIY kit for a sump, as well as a bubble magus curve 7 for a skimmer. as far as i am aware, the water height from the DIY sump kit can raise the water height to 8 inches, however, the curve 7 needs a water height of 9.5-11inches.

would using an egg crate stand or something similar to raise the skimmer about 1.5-2inches higher suffice in order to meet the necessary height? or would this have the opposite effect? i honestly feel a bit embarrassed as i never really understood why skimmer stands were a thing

If the water height is 8, and your skimmer height is 9-11, you need a higher water height ability. Raising the skimmer will lower the water height.

I bought bio bricks. One thing I hated about my bubble magus is how high I had to prop it up to maybe 2 inches of water.

I don't love Amazon, but they do have black acrylic sheets and those block light between chambers if you are going to have a refugium
