Hi,

I recently added bubble magus qq1 to my 8gallon tank. It is up and running for 3 days ,it never produce foam or bubble reaches the neck of skimmer cup..

It produce lot of bubbles and it won't even reach neck of cup...

Heavily stocked with corals and small pair of clowns.. I feed only fishes once a day..

If its a new skimmer its likely got oils on it popping the bubbles. Give it a week

What I heard is new skimmer will overflow for week to break in. But my nee skimmer is not overflowing or bubbles not even reaching the neck of cup...

What do you mean "bubbles not even reaching the neck of cup"? How high are the bubbles coming up into the neck? Can you post a pick?

These are adjustable, so you can adjust it to have the top of the bubbles high or low in the neck. Midway is typically good, a little lower if you want a dry skim. Little higher maybe if you want a wet skim.

You need to wait at least a week to start seeing brown crud show up in your skimmer. Until you have it running 2 weeks, don't worry about it. Just make sure the top of the bubbles are about mid-neck level. Then employ that long sought after quality that eludes so many reefers . . . patience.

I don't see bubbles passing through neck of collection cup , bubbles are at very low position.. kindly refer Picture below..

Is the air tube clear so the device can get air? No kinks in the tube ect.?

Is there an adjustment knob that will make the bubbles go higher? It looks like it either isn't getting the air it needs or it needs to be adjusted.

Air tube is new and it is clean.i can adjust the height of collection cup.. I see lot of air pushed to the skimmer..

I don't see any other knob to adjust the bubble height..

Finally skimmer started skimming little

Trying lifting the collection cup a little higher about half way and blow into the silencer that might help out a bit I also have a qq1 and love it pulls out quite a good amount of skim for a 10 gallon tank

Same thing is happening to me. What did you do to fix this?

Just installed and mine seems like it’s not getting enough air, to even get any bubbles to the neck. Is the trick blowing in the air tube?

You need to cover the air hole with your finger and pour about a gallon of water where the skim cup goes (remove the cup and pour the water in the hole where it goes). Make sure you are plugging the airhole with your finger the entire time while you are pouring water in to prime it. If you remove your finger you need to start over. You need to make sure water is flowing through the intake pipe pictured below.

I have my cup all the way down and this is the kind of skimmate I'm getting

This things works awesome for an hob skimmer. Does a wet and dry really well. Just thought I would update for anyone considering. I also own one of there internals so my expectations were probably higher than they should have been but this lived up.

I’m having the exact same problem, bubbles only reaching below the cup. It’s new and only running a couple of days. To make sure I’ve got this right, when the skimmer has broken in, only then will the bubbles will rise into the cup?

Do you have it all the way down?

I'm having the same issue.

I'm having the same exact issue, does anyone has a clear cut solution .. please help

It might take a week or two to break in. you can always run it in vinegar/water in the sink to speed it up.
