Anyone run this skimmer ? Any adjustments I make it just continuously over flows so I have to keep the plug out so the water can flow out the side. I know it needs to “break” in but wanted to know if anyone else has this product and went through the same deal

Have you checked to ensure you have the right water level in the skimmer chamber?
I did try it at both a higher level and lower level. Recommend water height is at 8in but BRS hit me with this so we will see what happens. Just hate the microbubbles in the tank lol

I have the Z6 so practically the same thing. It was an absolute pain to get the skimmer working properly. It took almost a whole month for mine to break in. I just let the drain go back into the sump for a week or so till it settled down some. What I ended up doing was cutting some PVC to use as a stand to elevate the skimmer. I had it up to the point where the bubble diffuser was just about sitting out of water. that seemed to work okay for the first month after which I was able to drop it back down to the appropriate water level. It's going to over flow like that every time you clean it so I would just keep the stand handy in case it does it again.
I got the same response e-mail from BRS about this skimmer. I don't think they understand just how MUCH it overflows because elevating the neck an inch or two doesn't really help.
It works great once it's broken in but yeah... They are a headache to get it to that point.

I have had 3 Bubble Magus skimmers over the years just a pain NOT AS Reliable in my opinion as Reef octo< Save ur money for a more reliable skimmer.

Great response. Yeah I have it sitting on a “stand” lol I had it on it over night and has settled down but if I where to
Plug that hole the water will slowly rise again. Tanks definitely established and never ran a skimmer but felt the need was there. You think it’s even more necessary to raise it more then the recommended level?

To Little to late. I feel like there’s a lot of mixed reviews on both the brands and I do like both however bubble magus had the better deal going on

I had it in less than 8 inches for the first month or so and was able to get a good skim out of it. After it breaks in you can bring it back down to 8 inches. Mine is in a little more than that right now and it’s still working well.

Mine didnt get dialed in until about 4 months running it. Im getting rid of it as soon as the one im looking for is back in stock. I cant run any filter floss or anything in media cups because it will cause the skimmer to go haywire. Also the rubber band adjustment is not great, mine will jump instead of closing smoothly so when I am trying to get a tiny movement it moves more than I wanted. I was raising and lowering mine just about every other day and then I stopped and just let it do its thing for months until it finally settled down.

Sheeesh well hopefully I don’t have much of an issue I’ve seen a good review video on it but only one video lol. Typically a new skimmer does act like this in the first use but if it takes months to settle
That seems a bit ridiculous

BRS sent me to the manufacturer and they were no help. I mean it works but its still not great. Any little thing sets it overflowing. For me trying to get it to collect into the cup is an issue, mine mostly just dry skims the neck.

Well I got a pretty heavy bio load so
I’ll just dirty this thing up get it nice and primed and hopefully it’ll settle in and settle down I did see a video where a guy cut the air tube from the bottom to the top just in the middle and put a adjustable air valve in the middle to help control everything and I might just do that seemed to work for him however it did spit out some more micro bubbles but once the skimmer dirty’s up that should settle. I also have a bubble trap and some Polly filter that’s helped me so I have very little micro bubbles

I actually did that and for me it didnt really do anything. I would just let it settle in.
