I purchased a Bubble Tip Anemone two days ago. I did a did prior to placing it in my DT so this gave me a nice scare today. My first thought was panic and that my nem was dying. After some research I found out it was just expelling waste from the mysis it probably has been eating.

I decided to document as much as I could in case others experience this. Hopefully it helps someone avoid panic mode.

This is how I first found it.

Then it seemed it release it.

After that it looked much better and the mouth began to return to normal and open.

Then it began to slowly fill back up with water.

This then was taken after about an hour if it inflating. Panic mode over, lol. Things are back to normal.

Looks good but since you got it 2 days ago, I would stop feeding it for a week or two. It gives it time to adjust.

Thanks for the tip. I didn’t feed it directly. It positioned itself where my water flows from DT into pump area so it must have snagged pieces as they drifted by.

Good photo documentation and even I tripped at first image some.

Looks good from last image, especially so new to tank still

looks like nem guts. could be waste though. check back in with its overall size. shrinking over time = dieing.

So far it looks to be the same size. I will keep an eye on this. Nem still looks healthy. I can’t get a photo right now because it decided to move into a deeper cave area for the night. I will take one tomorrow and post an update.

What do you think is this around nem mouth .. looks it coming from inside nem.

It could be dead zooxanthellae or waste. Either way, with proper care it should bounce back in a couple of days.
