So I recently got a bubble tip anemone and I put him in the tank in a low flow area and he promptly attached to a rock. As they do, he decided to wander in the night and the next day I couldn't find him. It's been 2 days and with the help of my UV flashlight I was able to find him this afternoon. My tank is 24" deep and has a single corner over-flow. The black plastic overflow is a double-wall type with some vents in the bottom. And that, is where I found him.

So, I'm not sure how to go about rescuing him. Is there any way to coax him out on his own? To be honest, I'm not sure I want to tear apart the entire tank, drain the water and rip apart the overflow to get to him. I'm not sure I could or want to cut the vent to tease him out. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Ah, firstly I’m sorry this happened to you, it really does suck when stuff like this happens with nems. I really do not think there is a way to coax it out, it’s that far into the overflow so, I wouldn’t expect him to be walking out on its own any time soon. Can you get a better look at the nem to make sure it isnt being chewed up by the overflow? I have protective covering on mine to make sure it doesn’t escape.

I would give it a couple of days to see if it comes out on its own.

He's fine, it's medium flow there so he's not getting beaten up, except perhaps emotionally from bad life choices.

Sometimes pointing a power head at a nem can coax it to move. Change the flow in the general area.

power head will do it - but make sure it is a low flow and not blasting to leave low earth orbit. Having said that they will move until they find a place "they" like which may or may not be a place "you" like. In this case though I'm willing to bet it will be short lived there and move unless it isn't healthy. That would be my only concern.

I have a wanderer in my tank. For the life of him he can't find a place no matter how hard he tries. This has been going on for about a month now. The other 9 are fine, this one, not sure what the issue is but I'm hoping it will settle down soon. But yes, power head, gentle, will do the trick. At least it has for me when I want them to move in my 40 breeder because they would get too close to a power head or skimmer intake.

Can u block the overflow from recieving light? If u can make it dark he may wiggle back out...

You wrote it is a double panel OF. Is it the type which allows you to slide the front plate off? If so, perhaps you could power down, slide the panel up and see if it can be coaxed off a little easier.
